When is the best time to schedule my newborn portrait session?
The best time to schedule your session is before your little one is born. This way you can rest assured that your newborn photo shoot will occur within 2 weeks of birth, the very best time to get those curled poses you see on my website. My weekly calendar fills up quickly and I only take on a limited amount of newborns each month. Let’s make sure that we have your session on the calendar before the birth so that you don’t have to think about it once the baby is born. You can schedule your appointment Monday-Friday right here.
How do I book without knowing if baby will arrive earlier or late?
Your due date will be your session date so that we can be sure that you are on my calendar for that month. Once your baby is born and you are ready to go home, all you have to do is send me an email and from there we’ll schedule a definitive session date and time within the first 5-10 days of your baby’s arrival. (PLEASE remember you are going to message me as soon as you get home!)
Once you book your newborn photo shoot session I’ll send you a detailed email with all the information you need to know including scheduling once the baby is here, what you can expect from your session, how to prep yourself and your baby and other helpful insights and tips.
Can I incorporate siblings to my newborn session and how much does it cost?
I have 3 different packages tailored to your needs. Please refer to each package in the investment tab.
How long will the session take?
Your session will take between 1-3 hours, depending on the type of session you book. Pausing to allow times for feeding, burping, changing and getting baby back to sleep. Our session will be determined by the baby. But rest assure that the time goes by fast while watching your memories being recorded with my camera.
My baby is already born, am I too late to schedule a Newborn Session?
If I have an opening in my calendar I am happy to accommodate. Most often, however, I am booked out months in advance. Also, I really love to take newborn pictures 5-10 days after birth. After that, some of the most adorable poses aren’t as easy to achieve. But please message me to see if we can squeeze you into our calendar.
Do you supply all the cute hats, props and outfits?
Yes!!!
In my studio you will find a large supply of hats, headbands, props and wraps that I have purchased and that are unique and perfect for your beautiful bundle of joy.
What should I bring to my session?
For baby the most important thing to bring is milk and a pacifier.
Since newborn sessions are longer than most, please bring a small snack for yourself and any siblings that will be attending the session. Water, snacks, and coffee is provided for you. Babies are accustomed to being warm and cozy in their mother's stomach. Warm temperatures replicate that environment and help them settle easily into the poses we attempt during your session. The studio will be approximately 80 degrees while we are shooting. Wearing layers of clothing is recommended to ensure you don't become too hot in the studio.
What are some tips you can give me to not feel nervous since it will be my first time taking my baby out?
Please be patient! If the parents become stressed, baby becomes stressed. Be prepared to stay for the entire time suggested for your package. While most babies do not need the full 2 or 3 hours, occasionally it does happen! Just remember I am a professional newborn photographer and I have been photographing babies for a few years now. Nothing to worry!
Your baby will be in good hands. I have take newborn safety workshops and I have been doing photography over 10 years now.
Babies with full tummies sleep MUCH longer and harder than those who are feeling hungry. While it is understandable that schedules are being formed, please be prepared to feed baby as much as they need during the session. A few hours off schedule will not ruin your hard work... And your session will be MUCH easier as a result!
Pacifiers are life. They help tremendously. Please bring one.
Siblings are absolutely encouraged to be part of your session. Please consider having one parent bring the siblings almost at the end of the session so they are not bored or uncomfortable during the first few hours of the session in my small studio.
During COVID times How do you keep my baby safe?
I AM FULLY VACCINATED!
If either you or I are not feeling well, we will easily reschedule for another time.
I’ll be skipping my usual hugs and handshakes to maintain our physical distance whenever we’re physically together.
I will sanitize all my photography gear before your session including my entire studio and any surfaces.
I’ll be wearing a mask at all times during your newborn session. I do ask my clients to wear one too.
I have a non shoe policy and I will be asking NO SHOES in the studio.
Can I get the un-edited images or any discounts?
Giving you any unedited shots (the "RAW files" / unedited images) certainly does not reflect my work. My editing is part of my process, my product, and my style. It’s part of why you hired me.
As for discounts, Unfortunately that’s not an offer I can make, simply because the price of the package already represents a considerable savings.
How do you define your prices?
The services I offer my clients guides my decisions on pricing.
Equipment costs - cameras, lenses, Props, outfits, lighting equipment, cleaning essentials. The total cost of production of a good or service, which includes its labor and photo editing. My time with photo retouching or photo manipulation
Hidden costs, such as client proofing websites, storing, and delivering digital files have a charge associated with them. Educational workshops. I am trained in safely and properly posing babies as well as how to handle props. My goal is to provide you with beautiful, timeless images and heirloom quality products you will be able to cherish for years to come, while providing an experience you won't forget.
What happens if I cancel my session?
Once a session is booked, you reserve the day and time. Upon acceptance of this retainer, the photographer agrees not to accept other clients which might interfere with the retained client's future photoshoot. This fee would have compensated the photographers for some of their lost time and ensured that some expenses related to the session can be taking care of. To re-schedule a new session the client will need to pay a new Non refundable booking retainer.
